Seller's Comments and Description:
Listing is for a vintage Hearst Castle San Simeon brown transferware display plate by Enco National. The Enco National Company imported souvenirs for sale in the United States, and was active from the 1950s to the early 1970s.
On the front of the plate, amid a floral motif, are scenes from the castle: Neptune Pool, The Three Graces, Cardinal Richelieu Bed, and The Refectory.
The gently used plate is about 10-1/4 inches in diameter, and in very good condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. There is hardly any surface wear.
The back of the plate is stamped "Fine American Ironstone Hearst Castle Work on La Casa Grande, the main residence was started in 1922 and continued until 1947. There are, today, 100 rooms in the main building, including 38 bedrooms, 31 baths, 14 sitting rooms, 2 libraries and a theater. There are 3 guest houses, Casa Del Mar, Casa Del Monte and Casa Del Sol. They contain 47 elaborate guest rooms. Made for Ogden Foods by Enco National New York Made in U.S.A.
