Seller's Comments and Description:

A very nice vintage Weil Ware gravy boat with underplate in their Malay Bambu (Bamboo) Gray pattern. The gravy boat is hand-decorated with yellow and brown bamboo and green leaves against a gray and white background.

Gently used, the gravy boat has heavy crazing and a small surface chip on the edge of the attached under plate. I do not see any cracks or utensil wear. See photos for details.

Founded by Max Weil in either late-1930s or mid-1940s (depending on the source), the most active time for Weil pottery appears to have been from the end of World War II until Max Weil's death in 1954. The company was liquidated in 1956.
