Seller's Comments and Description:
Listing is for a vintage lovely porcelain teapot (with lid) by Porcelier Manufacturing Company/Porcelier China Company. The front of the teapot has a raised vertical border and orange, purple and blue flowers. The lid and handle have dark brown accents. I'm not sure of when this teapot was made, but Porcelier was in business from the late 1920s to the mid 1950s.
The vitreous china teapot holds 6 cups (48 ounces) of your favorite tea or beverage. "Vitreous" means "glass-like" and is a coating applied to porcelain after it's been fired. The coating makes porcelain tougher and shinier.
Length: 9 inches (spout to handle)
Height: 7 inches (including lid)
Width: 5 1/2 inches
The teapot is in very good gently used condition with no cracks or crazing. There is a small chip on the top edge of the spout. Another small chip is on the bottom edge, under the spout, but it is under the glaze. Please see photos. The bottom is stamped "Porcelier Trade Mark Vitreous China."
The Porcelier Manufacturing Company/Porcelier China Company was in operation between 1927 and 1954. Porcelier made a number of vitrified china household goods, like electric waffle irons, light fixtures, teapots, coffee pots, etc.
